Besides offering quality roofing solutions, Sarnia Steel also believes in educating clients about the various aspects of metal roofs. Take a look at some of the frequently asked questions related to metal roofing systems.

How long will a metal roof last?

Eliminate the need to Re-Roof every 7 - 14 years

Easy Building Products metal roofing panels are designed to last a lifetime. They are designed to protect your #1 investment.

Unlike the traditional asphalt shingled roofs that begin to deteriorate from the second it is installed, a metal roof will last a lifetime. Available in multiple gauges, our ribbed panels are economical, easy to install, sturdy, and weather tight.

Resistance to dents, plus minimal expansion/contraction properties, make our steel panels an excellent investment providing long-lasting protection and greater durability that will enhance all types of structural designs.

Will a metal roof save money on energy costs?

The unique chemistry involved in the coating process coupled with the proven durability of metal roofing results in low life-cycle cost.

Many homeowners are surprised to find out that a properly installed metal roof does, in fact, reduce heating and cooling costs.

Asphalt shingles absorb solar radiation bringing that summer heat into your home. A metal roof, on the other hand, will reflect much of the sun's rays, and a pre-painted metal roof will re-emit the solar energy it has absorbed.

During the winter months, a properly installed metal roof will help prevent the buildup of snow and ice dams, which in turn will give you proper airflow preventing moisture and mildew as well as keeping your exhaust functions and airflow running smoothly.

Over time this equals BIG SAVINGS!

Is a metal roof maintenance-free, and can it be installed year-round?

Each panel is coated with Galvalume, a patented aluminum-zinc alloy coating for extra protection. Panels are then bonderized, and an epoxy primer is applied.

For the final coat, a ceramic pigmented silicone polyester supplies strength, hardness and durability against the effects of sun, high/low temperatures, wind, rain, and snow.

Metal roof panels have a nonporous exterior enabling them to resist damage from freezing and thawing.

A metal roof can be installed year-round. It is extremely resistant to mildew, unlike asphalt shingles.

No blistering, peeling or flaking either! Keeping its shape and colour longer than other roofing materials.

Is a metal roof environment-friendly?

Absolutely!

Metal roofing panels do contain recycled content and are 100% recyclable.

Future generations will be able to re-use or recycle the material for other beneficial projects.

Stop adding to the "pile"

Quite often unexpected or overlooked during a "Re-roof" is the hassle and expense involved with sending all those old asphalt shingles to the dump. Easy Building Products metal roofing panels are designed for installation over most pre-existing roofs, which in turn save you time and money.

Are metal roofs fire resistant?

Yes, they are!

Metal roofing materials are extremely fire resistant and not combustible.

Will rain and hail be noisier with a metal roof?

When installed with solid sheathing, a metal roof will silence noise from rain, hail and bad weather just as good as any other roofing material if not better.

Does a metal roof come in different colours?
